Project Shellshock was meant to be a spiritual successor to Team Buddies, with a more modern twist; Born to be a twin stick shooter, it features cybernetic eggs as main characters. The gameplay loop was meant to be very close to Team Buddies but with a lot more multiplayer support, unlike the original it would allow entire teams made up of players rather than only one player who can take over 4 AI pawns.

Here’s a very quick demo of the pad stacking system, unlike the Team Buddies remake project this video shows it in a much earlier stage.

Because of this game being a twin stick shooter Matt gave the characters a unique robotic anatomy, allowing their upper body to completely spin freely in all directions indepdendently of their legs. Therefore, I had to make the animations for that work.

We didn’t really get very far with this one.
